About the NLP Practitioner Class

This course is for Leaders, Teachers, Coaches, Mentors, People Helpers, and anyone who aspires to true excellence at producing results with and through other people.

By the end of the training you will have developed these skills:

  • Highly honed perceptual skills that let you appreciate new information you didn’t even know was available to you. This will make possible personal and interpersonal results that seemed nearly magical before.
  • Enhanced rapport skills that allow you to understand and influence others much more effectively.
  • Learning to manage difficult emotional states, both your own and other people’s, to maximize collaboration, help you make the impact you want to make, eliminate bad moods and behave in more resourceful ways.
  • Improved interpersonal skills and the ability to correct blind spots in yours and other people’s behaviour towards others.
  • Improved focus and accountability practices of exceptional leaders so that you can turn around under-performance.
  • Negotiation skills which allow you to negotiate and reach more satisfying agreements and commitments that produce the results that you want -- and that allow you to negotiate between parts of yourself that have been pulling you in different directions.
  • The ability to help people achieve sustainable levels of performance, particularly leadership capability.
  • Precise language and dialogue skills that help you to prevent misunderstandings by communicating what you want in a way that others truly understand.
  • Learning how to make better choices and decisions for yourself and the organizations and communities to which you belong and lead.

Group learning

You will gain a set of distinctions and a vocabulary for precisely describing the cognitive-behavioral processes that you and those people you interact with use to achieve results so that you understand yourself and others better than you ever have before. All results start with mutual understanding. If you don't know where you are, you can't know whether you'll get there or when.

You will learn how to:

  • Recognize and use the personal resources you already have but don’t always seem to apply.  ... and build more!  This is critical as self-leadership is the foundation for leading others.
  • Achieve win-win solutions in business, family, civic groups, and other contexts through using successful negotiation techniques.
  • Identify the positive purposes beneath seemingly negative behaviors and discover new ways to achieve those positive purposes without the negative side-effects.
  • Experience situations from other’s perspectives and help them experience your point of view to avoid the most common communication problems that prove the most costly..
  • Ask questions to quickly pinpoint critically important information while sidestepping irrelevant information.
  • Use the components of effective decision-making and effective motivation for yourself and others.
  • Lead from your own authentic values and beliefs so that you create the meaningful life you desire and help others to do the same.
  • Receive and provide coaching to others to align thoughts and behaviors behind mutual objectives and take responsibility for producing outstanding results.
  • Leave people, including yourself, in a more resourceful frame of mind for problem solving, taking action, performing work, and reinforcing new behaviors.
  • Set and achieve goals that fit with your life and your values and facilitate others to do the same.

NLP Triads for Accellerated Behavioral LearningThese Techniques and Cognitive-Behavioral Dynamics will be Covered in Depth:

Anchoring Formats:

You’ll learn how to make your behavioral resources available when and where you want them.  Here you will learn about dissociation (stepping out of your experience to gain another perspective) and using this skill to get out of a “stuck state” in order to find new ways to deal with tough situations.  Other useful patterns you will learn these two days include Changing Personal History to transform the impact of past negative events and the New Behavior Generator to facilitate easy and natural uptake of new behavioral patterns and learnings with minimal time and effort.

Running Your Own Brain with Submodality Distinctions:

You’ll learn to recognize and utilize the Sensory Representational Systems -- visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and their finer characteristics.  You will learn to discern how people’s eye movements, language patterns, and physiological body-language indicate anothers’ model of the world and how you can use this information to your leadership advantage. You will master the Swish Pattern and the Phobia/Trauma pattern, well known for its ability to not only remove fears but cure most phobias in a single session.

Precision Language and Information Gathering:

You’ll learn the secrets of successful and efficient information gathering, how to know what questions to ask and why, and the impact your language patterns have on others.  You’ll discover how to create well formed and compelling objectives that are ecological by making sure that the changes you make are good for you and all others involved.  These skills form the foundation for all effective coordination of effort at the heart of personal and group leadership.

The Language Patterns of Influence:

You’ll learn to use language structures that evoke profound responses in the people you interact with so that you can facilitate motivation, clarity, commitment, and other states of mind and body necessary for outstanding performance.  These skills are the secret to creating the receptivity of mind underlying all permanent and profound change.  You will master the use of your own voice tone, tempo, and patterns of speech as you hone your previous skills of sensory acuity, rapport, and information gathering.

Negotiation Skills -- Influencing Through Integrity

You will learn to recognize and sort out what is happening when a person is sending two conflicting messages as you learn how to resolve internal conflicts in yourself and others through the strategies of context reframing, meaning reframing, and conditional gate closing.  To be a great leader of others you must master these skills. To lead integrally from you highest and best values you must apply these skills with yourself to create the congruence that generates charisma and natural followership.

Communicating Beyond the Conscious Mind - Six-Step Reframing:

You will expand your negotiation and reframing skills with more complex interventions such as the Six-Step Reframe, a precise way to uncover and address all the unconscious concerns that have prevented you from getting what you want.  Emphasis is on understanding ecology and balance, connecting conscious and unconscious resources, leading individuals to connect with ‘untapped potentials.’  This will develop and ground your intuitions in a type of emotional intelligence that makes these insights pragmatic.

Leading Through Metaphorical Storytelling - Respect and Effectiveness:

Learn to use metaphors and war stories effectively in your communication as you further integrate the skills and patterns that you have previously learned.  Precision conversational storytelling can provide a powerful way to assist those around you in making changes gracefully.  You’ll discover that any technique or message can be embedded in a metaphor, further enhancing your behavioral flexibility.

Cognitive Strategies and Beliefs - Core Processes of Effectiveness:

Our thinking processes (strategies) have a major impact on who we are and what we can do.  Learn to identify these internal thinking sequences and know how they create emotions, beliefs, and behaviors.  You’ll discover the impact beliefs have on our experience and performance as you learn to gather and organize the information you need about a situation to change strategies and beliefs.

Synthesis, Consolidation and Skills Integration:

Toward the end of the Natural Leadership Pragmatics practitioner training, you’ll begin to focus on further integration of your skills as you work on round robin exercises and learning strategies.  These exercises challenge all the skills that have become second-nature to you and allow you to realize how much you have learned as you plan how to further integrate NLP into your work and personal lives.  This is the time to put it all together and begin doing full-scale change interventions.  You’ll receive quality coaching as you integrate your learning and experience by using your skills with groups and individuals.
